This page will cover:
The minimum we would recommend for each Technician involved in any form of equipment service, test and repair is the Dive Industry Technicians Course (DITC)
If you are working with Nitrox then add to this the Nitrox Gas Blender & Technicians Course
If you involved in Cylinder Testing we would also recommend taking the Cylinder Testing pt 2 Course ( the part 1 is included in the DITC).
This 14 day programme will include training in all the duties of a Diving Technician.
Cylinder Testing
If you are purely Cylinder Testing then take the 4 day Cylinder Testing Course
If you have no qualifications in compressor management we also recommend the Compressed Air Systems Management Course - this certificate will give some amount of protection if there is an incedent involving compressors.
You might also consider the Nitrox Gas Blender & technicians course if you will be O2 cleaning etc.

Cylinder Testing Approval
Although it is no longer required that you become UKAS approved through IDEST – we do recommend that you become IDEST approved for Cylinder Testing when you have completed your course with us as this will give you added credibility with the HSE and your customers. Most Dive Shops will not fill a cylinder that has not been tested and stamped by an IDEST approved test station.
You can find out about IDEST Approval from pat@sita.org.uk
Email us for a contact list of companies that supply some of the equipment you will be required to have.
